Partnership with Montgomery County Green Bank

Montgomery County Green Bank (MCGB), which serves a population of over 1.1 million people in the County, will offer loan subsidies that provide homeowners with discounted solar loans. The program also allows homeowners to include battery storage and roof replacement in their loan if needed as part of the solar installation.

In the first year, the Montgomery County project is estimated to:
  • Provide $5,000,000 of consumer loans, with roughly 50% of transactions occurring in Equity Emphasis Areas.
  • Provide anticipated energy savings totaling 1,800,000 kWh, as well as 1,272.6 MT CO2 emissions mitigated per year.
  • The annual dollar savings are expected to amount to $234,000 for Montgomery County residents.
*Interest rate of 7.99% is current as of November 4th, 2024 and is subject to change. The loan APR is 7.99%.This loan program is only available for homeowners in Montgomery County, Maryland. Solar panels must be installed on a residential home located in this area. Loan is subject to credit approval. This loan is a 30-year term with a 7.99% interest rate. The interest rate payable will be 0% for the first 10 years for select Montgomery County properties in Equity Emphasis Areas (EEA). Loans outside of Equity Emphasis Areas will have shall have the interest rate payable reduced to 4.99% for the first 10 years. Without auto-pay, the loan interest rate will remain 7.99% for the entire term. Interest rate subsidies are provided by Montgomery County Green Bank. No payments are required for the first 6 months; however, interest will accrue on the outstanding balance during this period. Principal and interest payments will begin in month 7. "Equity Emphasis Area" means those portions of Montgomery County, Maryland designated as an Equity Emphasis Area by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
