Harvest Time International (HTI) endeavors to provide a hand up to children and families in need locally, nationally, and internationally. Founded by Pastors Mary and John Murphy in 1991, they serve their mission through disaster response, support for mission aligned nonprofits, partnerships with impact-driven businesses, and programs aimed at breaking cycles of hunger and poverty. HTI has built a reputation for showing up when it matters most, a value clearly aligned with our own commitments as a bank that prioritizes people, planet, and profit.

Mary Murphy,Co-founder and President, shared the story of how they began “with only a pick-up truck, a rented home garage, and two willing hands to work.” Mary explained, “We were responding to the families in our local state and urban communities whose needs were of great proportion. We lived by the principle, ‘If those who gather much increase would share with those who gather little there would be no lack.”

Fast forward to 2025, when HTI distributed more than 35,000,000 pounds of food, hygiene products, essential goods, clothing, and household supplies over the course of the year, helping children and families in need.

Harvest Time International’s Florida-based Harvest Time Hope Center programs are pillars of local sustainability. Families can receive essential goods for suggested donations, helping them stretch their budgets and reduce monthly expenses. Additionally, HTI operates a Non-Profit Supply Center in Central Florida, where approved local 501(c)(3) nonprofits can fill boxes with food, hygiene items, and supplies for a low handling fee per box, allowing them to better serve their own community members.

Each December, their beloved Christmas “Bag of Joy” program brings joy to hundreds of families. Parents can choose toys, at no cost, for their kids to open on Christmas morning. Climate First Bank is honored to support this program.

“The moment when we see families, how happy they are when they can see these toys and have something for their kids on Christmas morning, that is very special every year,” reflected Harvest Time International CFO and COO, Andre Smolinsky.

Beyond Florida, HTI distributes hundreds of truckloads of supplies across the country each month, ensuring nonprofits nationwide have access to the lifesaving goods they need.

Murphy expressed, “In the future we also hope to partner with other organizations who have a heart to serve their fellow man, because as we serve each other, we also serve the community at large.”

Climate First Bank and Harvest Time International formed their primary banking relationship in 2022, less than a year after our founding, establishing accounts and refinancing loans to better support the organization’s operational needs.

“Our previous bank had us in all these government bonds and crazy loan agreements with interest swaps and all this stuff that cost us a lot of money, and Ken and Lex simplified our loan structure and helped us out of this mess back then,” explained Smolinsky.

As an FDIC-insured, climate-focused community bank, Climate First Bank exists to use finance as a tool for good supporting clean energy, environmental resilience, and community-oriented initiatives. Our partnership with Harvest Time is a natural extension of this mission, combining resources and values to strengthen social and environmental impact.

“I don’t think Harvest Time could be at the level or at the capacity of what we do, helping as many people as we have without a partner,” Smolinsky said, “without Climate First Bank, we couldn’t have done our recent expansion. That’s why we’re able to help more people now.”

As proud members of 1% for the Planet, Climate First Bank donates at least 1% of our consumer solar revenue to organizations that create meaningful environmental and community impact. Harvest Time International is in the process of joining 1% for the Planet, further aligning our values-driven relationship.

“I think with Climate First that the clients matter. You see relationships differently, especially to nonprofits.” said Smolinky, “and it’s because it’s purpose driven rather than just bottom line driven. I think that’s the big difference to other banks that wouldn’t take a risk with a nonprofit.”
