Earlier in November, the Climate First Bank team came together in DeLand, Florida, for a day of camaraderie, delicious food, and a shared commitment to sustainability.
The Bank is a remote-first organization with many colleagues working full time from their home office, a fantastic mission-led initiative which reduces commuting significantly and therefore reduces employees carbon emissions.
While that’s great for the environment, the team needs plenty of opportunity to come together to meet in-person and get to know each other better!
A Sustainably Delicious Event
True to its commitment to a low-carbon footprint, the Bank sourced locally grown, organic produce for the BBQ. Our very own Bank President, Lex Ford, operated the grill and provided a menu featuring an array of plant-based delights, from grilled vegetable skewers to veggie sausages and burgers.
To further underscore the Bank's dedication to environmental responsibility, the team implemented a zero-waste initiative. Compostable (or reusable) plates, utensils, and cups were used, and through a partnership with O-Town Compost, designated recycling and composting stations made it easy for employees to dispose of their waste responsibly. Thanks to O-Town Compost’s Green Events service, the Bank composed 55 lbs., rather than sending waste to landfill!
The Climate First Bank Employee Fall BBQ served as more than just a social gathering; it strengthened the sense of community among employees and forged connections that extended beyond the workplace. The event exemplified how a shared commitment to sustainability can create a positive and cohesive work environment.
Employees of Climate-First Bank left the BBQ with full stomachs, smiling faces, and a renewed sense of purpose. This unique event not only showcased the Bank's dedication to environmental responsibility but also demonstrated that a commitment to sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into every aspect of corporate culture, from finance to food. The Climate First Bank Employee BBQ was a sizzling success, proving that a green mindset can indeed be the key to a thriving and connected workplace.
